The Senior Internal Auditor will execute the internal audit program in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and the COSO internal control framework including evaluations of reporting, compliance, and operations, in the context of prescribed laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The objective of the internal audit program is to identify matters that have the potential to adversely affect the ability of the Credit Union to achieve objectives and identify opportunities for the improvement of efficiency and controls, while effectively communicating findings and remediation to the appropriate individuals.
Essential Functions include:
-Independently evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls, efficiency of operations, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
-Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with stakeholders regarding information requests, testing, and issues/recommendations
-Conducts ongoing evaluations of the internal control environment as assigned or necessary
-Effectively coordinates with counterparts in Internal Audit, Risk, Fraud, Information Security, and compliance, as well as with the external auditors
-Maintains an awareness of business initiatives that require internal control guidance and consults as needed
-Recommends changes to the audit program as needed based on changes in the environment
-Demonstrates understanding of all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations governing the Credit Union
Required Education and Experience:
-4+ years of experience performing and/or leading audits
-Data extraction and analytics, using tools such as ACL or IDEA
-CIA, CPA, CISA, CFE, or related certification
Preferred Education and Experience:
-Degree in business, finance, or accounting
-Public accounting experience
-Financial services experience
-Experience working in an agile environment
Work Environment: This job operates in an office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment
Physical Requirements: Sitting frequently, walking occasionally, use of hands frequently, hearing constantly, talking frequently, exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
