TruNorth Federal Credit Union was established in 1949 as Ishpeming Community Federal Credit Union by 8 local Ishpeming residents who pooled together $35 dollars to apply for a credit union charter. They hoped their then tiny credit union could attract members and serve their financial needs. The credit union sought to help their friends and neighbors fulfill their own dreams and make a difference in the community by providing loans for homes, cars, clothing, tools, and schooling. Today, TruNorth FCU has grown immensely and serves more than 16,400 members in Marquette, Baraga, Iron, Dickinson, and Alger counties.
