To preserve the credit union's assets by assisting in controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments, recovering collateral and to provide administrative support for the Loss Mitigation department. Provides counseling and assistance to members in an effort to reduce or minimize losses from delinquent accounts. Adhere to all Federal and State laws and regulations governing applicable to the Credit Union, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
Essential Functions include:
-Daily arranges and agrees on alternative payment schedules for delinquent accounts with members.
-Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail in a prompt and professional manner while adhering to all state and federal regulations, as well as, internal policies and procedures while controlling costs.
-Provides confidential administrative support to management and staff of collection department.
-Maintains accurate files and reports on all collection activity.
-Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers.
-At management’s direction, performs projects within the department including development of tasks, follow ups, including working tasks directly.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
-Orders, maintains, and distributes supplies for the collection department.
-Maintain accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity.
-Assists in miscellaneous projects such as 1099C/A tax form filing, debt sales, collection agency account assignments, and other projects as needed.
-Must have great interpersonal skills
-Maintain knowledge of FDCPA, its applicable rules and regulations.
-Adheres to all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations governing the Credit Union, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Required Education and Experience:
-High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required
-Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
-Six months to two years similar or related experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
-Technical knowledge preferred
