ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manages the Accounting Department to support operational goals and objectives.
• Manages and directs all systems in the department including Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Leases, and Investment Portfolio Accounting.
• Oversees the maintenance and accuracy of subsidiary ledgers including mortgage, commercial and consumer loans, and fixed assets.
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
• Maintains rent roll and lease accounting spreadsheet. Prepares monthly lease/sales tax forms and annual personal property tax forms ensuring all items are reported properly and in a timely fashion.
• Prepares and/or reviews month-end closing adjustments and ensures the monthly close process is performed in a timely and accurate manner with a high level of attention to detail.
• Prepares quarterly NCUA 5300 call report, monthly financial statements and other internal management reports.
• Ensures that all general ledger accounts are reconciled in a timely and thorough manner and that all reconciling items are fully researched and documented.
• Develops and/or maintains policies and procedures concerning all functions of the department.
• Analyzes the workflow in the department and makes recommendations to the VP, Finance & Accounting for changes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensures cross-training of all critical functional areas of the accounting department and provides backup as needed.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
• Performs annual escheatment process, ensuring all updates to the program are implemented and funds are escheated to the state in a timely manner.
• Provides requested documentation to examiners and auditors.
• Analyzes financial information to summarize financial position of the credit union, analyze trends, variances and significant changes, providing narrative reports to explain finding

Qualifications:

Skills/ Requirements

Minimum of 3 years related experience. Proven track record of providing exceptional leadership to team/department members.
Bachelors degree in accounting; knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP.
Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
Service oriented mindset with high level of detail orientation.
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and analytical skills, including ability to interact effectively with members, employees, management and vendors.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills with the ability to create and review complex reports required.

Candidates must be available to work Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm.
