Software Support Specialist

Under the general supervision of the V.P. of I.T., implement, support and document the core system software from CUProdigy and related business applications. Supports organizational and business unit goals through project management, issue resolution and knowledge management.


Serves as the application administrator and primary support contact for the core processing system CUProdigy (CUP) in the IT Department. Understands Credit Union operations and supports business units in the Application Lifecycle Management process. Coordinates with IT employees and vendor support representatives to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, enhance and optimize the Credit Unionís business applications. Collaborates with the VP of IT and other business units to identify opportunities and issues, recommend changes and enhancements to meet business unit and organizational goals.

Serves as a technical resource to business units in project support. Demonstrates the ability to gather requirements from business units and translate into technical needs within the IT Department. Demonstrates strong project management skills from conception to project close.

Manages user access using the principle of least privilege. Collaborates with business unit leaders to implement and review security access and assign permissions necessary for job roles.

Provides help desk support of credit union equipment and systems. Demonstrates a willingness to troubleshoot and resolve issues impeding business operations.

Serve as a back-up for other IT positions and performs other duties as assigned.


Experience: Two to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: A two-year college degree or equivalent experience.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

Other Skills: Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with multiple variables. Diagnostic abilities with software, hardware and networks would be a plus.

IT support experience in a Service Desk environment supporting desktop, telephones, and business software.

Requires a knowledge of PC/desktop operating systems, various software applications and
hardware for the PC; principles and theories of network systems and management; Internet technologies and products.

Physical Requirements: Should be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment :Work is performed across multiple branches. Occasional travel between branches is required, including travel to Grand Junction and Colorado Springs on an overnight
basis. Participates in On-Call Support on nights and weekends on a rotating basis.
