Collections Manager

First Credit Union is a not-for-profit cooperative that strives to be "First in Service" through offering competitive financial products and solutions to our membership. We exist because of our members and offer them a professional, friendly, and personalized alternative to other financial institutions.

We currently have a need for a Collections Manager at our Chandler Corporate Headquarters.

As Collections Manager, you will work with a team of collectors and clerical staff to ensure effective and timely review and resolution of past due loan accounts, while protecting the Credit Union's assets and financial interest. Provide daily management, oversight and support to collection department personnel to include escalated calls and overflow calls as necessary. Develop and update policy and procedure as required to ensure appropriate compliance with regulations. Take a proactive approach to identify workable solutions on past due accounts that benefit both the borrower and the Credit Union. Review and recommend action on bankrupt accounts. Review, recommend and follow foreclosure and repossession process to successful conclusion. Structure modification and workout request for review. Motivate staff on a daily basis toward accomplishing goals, productivity, accuracy and efficiency. Track results and provide reporting to management as requested.


Skills/ Requirements
This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and attention to detail and accuracy. Minimum 5 years in a consumer collections department within a financial institution. Must have 2 years supervisory experience within a financial institution.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. College degree preferred but may be substituted by extensive related experience as approved by management.

Strong knowledge of collections and lending procedures and practices required. Strong knowledge of mortgage and consumer collections, repossessions and credit reporting laws and requirements required.

Ability to skip trace and familiarity with credit bureau reports and skip tracing software required.
Must be able to read and interpret all three major credit bureau reports. Must be able to read and interpret financial statements and tax returns. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications quickly a must.

Must possess a complete working knowledge of consumer loan underwriting concepts, techniques, terminology and regulatory guidelines. A working knowledge of standard loan products in the industry required.

Strong analytical skills for the initial review of information and the ability to forecast projections required. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks a must.
Must have good managerial skills and staff leadership.

Must be able to work in a time sensitive environment, making sound decisions, communicating these decisions to members as well as internal staff. Must have excellent negotiating and problem solving skills.

Must be able to work flexible hours and Saturdays as required.
